First Taste of Rice Cereal

Saturday night, Mac acted extremely hungry, so we decided to try some cereal. These pictures (they posted backwards!!) are the after, during, and first bite pictures. Right now he is just getting it once a day (in the morning) until he is used to it, then we will go to twice a day!!
We are going to Arkansas Children's Hospital on Wednesday to see the pediatric opthamologist. Keep us in your prayers that this remains just a routine appointment!!

Aren't we cute?

I'm not biased, they are just the cutest little kids in the world!!

What's in a name?

I have had many questions about Mac's name, such as "Where did you come up with his name?" Well, Mac is named after two extraordinary men...Randall's grandpa and my pepaw. Randall was extrememly close to his grandpa, hence the name Mac. My pepaw's last name is Patton. He never had a son...only 4 daughters (my mom is #2). I had said since I was a little girl that I wanted Patton to be in my son's name somewhere. Mac actually has the same name we had picked out for Emma had she been a boy. We know that with both of these names, Mac has some huge shoes to fill. We also have no doubt that God has great things in store for him, so he should be able to fill those shoes.

Tummy Time

I think Mac has decided that he kinda likes tummy time. He layed on his mat for about 25 minutes this morning...he really enjoys looking at himself in the mirror. He is really beginning to hold his head up very well. I can finally get him to look at me when I take pictures.

The Three Musketeers

Mac and Emma got to spend some quality time with Mikayla (Randy's daughter) today. Irene had to go to a funeral for Randy's college roommate's mom, so Mikayla stayed with us for the day. They had a good time. Emma and Mikayla played for a little over an hour in Emma's room, then they got to go outside for a while. Mikayla enjoyed playing in Emma's Little Tikes Cozy Coupe Car. After coming in for a cool down, the girls had a meal of grilled cheese and cheddar mashed potatoes with broccoli. Mac had the good ole reliable bottle. It was then naptime for all 3. They seemed to have a great time. I am glad they got this time together since Mikayla lives in Georgia.

Is it hunting season yet?

Mac is ready to go to deer camp. He wants to get all the deer he can...and he already has his first one. He is getting to where he likes to chew on this one, so maybe that means he will like deer meat as he gets older...there's nothing like it!!

WHOOOOOOOO....Pig Sooie.....Razorbacks!!

As you can tell, our house is all ready for football season....if you live with the Martins, there isn't a Saturday that goes by that there isn't at least one football game on the tv...usually, there are many. Most of the time, Daddy is watching more than one at the same time. There isn't a televised Razorback game that is missed.....All we can say is GO HOGS!!!

NO MONITOR!!!

As of last Thursday, Mac is officially monitor free. Dr. Luy said there was no reason to leave him on the apnea monitor any longer. He hadn't had any type of alarm in over 2 months. She probably would have taken him off last month, but decided because of his surgery that we should use it for a little longer. I am glad she made that choice since he ended up having morphine. I am also glad that we are now free of it.

We also have another tooth coming in....yep, that's right...two teeth for a 5 month old who was a preemie!! I can't believe it!! He has his next check-up with Dr. Luy in a couple of weeks, and I think she will probably put him on cereal then.

First Tooth

Mac has officially begun teething!!! I noticed a couple of days ago that there was a little spot on his bottom gum that looked like a tooth trying to come in. Sure enough, today I noticed it was trying to break through. He hasn't been too fussy, but he isn't eating quite as well as normal. We made a run to Walgreen's today for something teething tablets. He took them with not problem. I guess if you've been taking medicine since they day you were born, one more won't make a difference. These teething tablets work great!! Emma used them, too, and they worked for her.

Happy 4th of July

Mac and Emma want to wish everyone a Hapy and Safe 4th of July. We also ask that each of you remember the men and women who are currently or have served in the military, especially those serving in other countries right now. Mac and Emma are both very proud of Uncle Ra-Ra, who was promoted to Captain today. Wish he could have been on American soil to get this promotion!! We love you and miss you, Ra-Ra. Can't wait until you come home on leave. Mac is ready to meet you!!
