Ok, I've been bad and haven't kept up with the last 3 weeks of Show Us Your Life hosted by Kelly at Kelly's Korner. I am going to have to catch up, but it'll take a few posts...I'll work on it throughout the day!!

Weight Loss Tips
Not that I am great on this topic, but Randall and I are trying out some new things because he was diagnosed with diabetes a few weeks ago. We are eating A LOT of steamed vegetables these days. For Christmas, I received a steamer from Momma and Daddy, and we have used it at least 2-3 times a week, if not more!!

We have steamed eggs, shrimp, eggplant, mushrooms, broccoli, and corn-on-the-cob, just to name a few! We've also been eating a lot less fried foods, and we've really tried to pay attention to our diet more. It seems to be working. That, along with walking on the treadmill that Momma and Daddy sent over from their house, has helped us start losing some weight!!

More Winter Weather

I knew we had the chance of winter weather heading this way, but in all honesty, I really didn't expect it. The weather in Arkansas can change on a dime, and usually when they make a big deal out of something, it turns out to be nothing!! When my alarm went off this morning, I could hear something falling, but I wasn't sure what it was. I looked out the window and could see some freezing rain/sleet, but it didn't look like much. When I sat down at the tv just to see if school was out, I was surprised to see that it was. I don't know how bad the roads are, so I think this was just precautionary. I know it is supposed to get worse. The radar on Channel 7 shows more coming up from Texas, and the temperature in Searcy is only 28. As it gets lighter outside, I can see it sticking to the roadways a little. It is eventually supposed to turn from ice to snow, but I'll believe that when I see it. As for now, I'm going to enjoy the day home with my family and work on cleaning the house for Mac's Batman-themed 3rd birthday party tomorrow. Check back tomorrow for pictures!!

DIY projects

We are still working on Emma's room. I've decided to get my hands dirty with a few DIY projects. She got a white lamp from Aunt Beene and Uncle RaRa for Christmas, and I decided to dress it up a little to match her room a little more. I got some black ribbon with black/white bead dangling from it. I used a hot glue gun to attach the ribbon to the bottom of the shade. I love the way it turned out!!

I also took the letters that we've had in Emma's room since she was born and gave them a new look. I spray painted them black to off-set them from the pink walls. I then bought zebra ribbon to hang them up with. Once again, I used the hot glue gun to attach the ribbon to the back of the letters, then I hung them on the wall. What do you think?




The cost of both of these projects was about $8. I bought my materials at Hancock's.

UPWARD!!

If you have never heard of Upward, then you need to look it up! It's a great ministry for children. Emma was old enough to start this year. In Searcy, you get the option of cheerleading or basketball. Emma chose to do cheerleading, and she absolutely loves it. They practice for 1 hour during the week and play a game on Saturday. During the practice and the game, they get a chance to hear devotionals and learn more about Jesus and scriptures. I am so thankful that my children get to be a part of this, and that our church volunteers to be one of the host churches in town! We are so lucky to be part of such a wonderful church! After all, it's a fellowship, not just a membership!!

Momma's boo-boo!

Doesn't this look lovely? One evening while Emma, Mac and I were playing, this was the outcome!! The kids were taking turns standing by my head, and I was flipping them over me. This time, Emma jumped and I wasn't ready. She came down on my face!! My bottom teeth went through the inside of my lip, and my top teeth went through the outside. Poor Emma felt horrible!

Snow Day, 2010

Ok, so I'm far behind on my blogging, but I'm catching up today while both kids are getting a much needed nap!! On Sunday, Jan. 3, we woke up to snow coming down. We headed to church, and it kept coming down. As a matter of fact, it came down all day. However, none of seemed to stick. The kids tried to play in it, but there wasn't enough. When we came out of church Sunday night, it had started to stick. We met Gramps and Grammy at Brick Oven Pizza for supper. When we came out, it was looking worse on the roads. We were supposed to start back to school after our Christmas vacation on January 4. We didn't. Due to the road conditions, school was cancelled. The snow kept coming down Sunday night, and on Monday morning, there was enough for the kids to get out and play in...Mac kept saying he was making Batman snow angels!!

New Family Member

We have a new family member...my brother, Randy, sister-in-law, Irene, and niece, Mikayla, welcomed another little girl to their clan last night. Miya Anne was born at 5:46 pm, weighed 8 pounds, 3 ounces, and was 21 1/4 inches long!! I'll post a picture when I get one. Congratulations Randy, Irene, and Mikayla...she's a cutie! Hope we get to see you soon!

We have just about finished Emma's room. I still have a few more things up my sleeve for sprucing it up a little, and I need to get a few things up on the wall. I like how it turned out, and she LOVES it!!
