Happy Halloween!!

Happy Halloween!! Emma, Mac, and I got out for a little Trick-or-Treating this evening. Daddy was working, so he didn't get to go with us. We had to have a little photo shoot before we left, but Mac didn't really want to cooperate. We tried, though!
Cinderella and Batman ready to go get some candy.
First stop: Grandma's house. We got lots of goodies there!!
Second stop: Memaw and Pepaw Patton's house. We were patiently waiting for them to answer the door!
Emma sitting in Pepaw's chair.
Third stop: Gramps and Grammy's house. Gramps was a deer camp, so we didn't get to see him. Got lots more goodies, then loaded up with Grammy and headed to our fourth stop.
Fourth stop: Amy and Doug Rutledge's house...We loved Amy's decorations. Mac is knocking on the door.
Mac with his flashlight Mrs. Amy got for him. He loved it!!
Cinderella and Batman with the Halloween decorations.
Posing with Momma...we don't get many of these pictures. Thanks, Grammy!
After leaving Amy's, we ran Grammy back home, then headed to Sonic for 50 cent corndogs (and a Cherry Vanilla Dr. Pepper for Momma)! Then we stopped by the Cleveland's and the Tackett's. We racked up...don't think Momma's diet will be going well this week!!

Just a Few Pics

The last several weeks have been CRAZY around the Martin household. This time of year always gets that way. Here are a few pics from Emma's school events. Hope you enjoy

Emma's New Haircut

Emma has been begging for the last couple of weeks to get her hair cut. I was a little hesitant because it took her so long to get hair that I didn't want to cut it off. We found a picture on the internet that she really liked and took it to Mrs. Diane, our hairdresser. I didn't want her hair cut quite a drastic as the picture was in case Emma decided she didn't like it. I thought I was going to have a heart attack when Diane started cutting, but after 3 or 4 cuts, I was ok. The hairstyle turned out very cute for Emma, and in the spring we may go for a little more stacking in the back. Emma absolutely loves it!!

Susan G. Koman Race for the Cure, 2009

Momma asked me this year if I would be on her team for Race for the Cure, and I gladly accepted. It was the team of the White County Legal Support Professionals. We left Searcy at 6:30 on Saturday morning and headed to Little Rock to participate in the Race for the Cure. I've always been a spirit runner (made the donation but didn't walk), so this was a first time experience for me. All I know is that now I want to do it again. We had a great time with each other Saturday morning, and it was all for a great cause.
Sunrise over the Arkansas River headed to the Race for the Cure.
Me and Momma waiting for the Race to start. We are sporting our scarves that Danny made. Thanks, Danny! (oh, by the way, you're a hoot!!)
The Team...Linda, Kristen, Candy, me, Momma, Danny, Janet, and Shirley in front. Thanks, Stacie, for taking this picture!!

We were just part of the many walkers/runners taking part in this year's Race for the Cure.

How Sweet!!

Today I walked into Emma's room after both kids were extremely quiet, and this is what I found.
They had both made pallets in the floor and were watching cartoons!!

Sneak Peak...

...at Mac's Halloween costume. Batman is the newest thing he is into right now, so this fit him perfectly. He has already worn it several different days. If Emma is playing dress up, he wants to dress up like Batman (and sometimes Emma plays as Robin).

Kindergarten Boxcar Derby

On Friday, Emma had her boxcar derby at school. She and Randall had worked on her boxcar for a couple of weeks. I didn't get to go since I had taken off for the field trip on Thursday, but Daddy got to go.
The back of Emma's boxcar...it was pink with yellow tired (this is the spare on the back). It was also decorated with flip-flops (since she loves them!!).
The side of Emma's boxcar.
The other side.
The front...she has headlights, a grill, and a bumper!
Mrs. Amy taking pictures of Emma's heat.
Lined up at the starting gate...McKinley, Chandler, Emma, then those you can't see...Mackenzie and Mya.
Emma crying...she decided after they said go that she didn't want to race. I am not surprised. She doesn't do crowds well...I am surprised she even made it to the starting gate!
Emma watching the Boxcar Derby with her class.
...and more watching.

Emma's Field Trip to Peebles Farm

I took a personal day at work today to go with Emma (and all the other kindergarteners at her school) to Peebles Farm. We had a great time. When we got there, we started off with the corn maze that is made to look like the county courthouse. It covers 14 acres. The kids loved it!!
After the corn maze, we got to stop by the sunflowers and have pictures made. I need to take both kids back together so I can get cute pics of both of them. After the sunflowers, each child received a brown paper bag and got to fill it with cotton that they picked. Emma loved this! We also enjoyed a hayride before we had lunch and a short recess. Then each child (and parent who paid) picked out their own personal pumpkin to take home. Since I paid, I was able to get a pumpkin for Mac, too!! He'll be so excited when I pick him up and show him his pumpkin. For now, I am enjoying some quiet time at home before I have to pick Emma up from school!!

The amazing variety of pumpkins and gourds they have for sale!
